Palamos is one of the safest places in the world to visit and feel comfortable walking the streets. Some of the cruise boats give out some silly standard information sheets whick talk about scams from women selling flowers etc. All that applies to Barcelona where you have a high chance of being scammed or robbed. I am also putting together a site called www.robbedinbarcelona.yolasite.com but it will not be complete till late October 2010. Anyway the chances of being robbed in Palamos are practically zero but just to be safe leave everything you can on the ship. This applies particularly to women who have EVERYTHING in their handbag. That is blatantly STUPID. If it happens at all it is an opportunist on the beach. The other thing that is important is safety in the traffic. There are dozens and dozens of zebra crossings and nowadays Spanish people have become accustomed to the notion of stopping. Still, it is always best to be alert. Move positively up to the kerb and wait for the cars to stop. Always be alert for a kid on a scooter who overtakes the car that has stopped. |
