THE BEACHES: The first thing most people want to know is what about the beaches? Well Palamos is blessed with some rather nice beaches. If you click here www.costabravarent.com/id12.html it will take you to our apartment rental site but onto a page that shows all the beaches. You can have a wide expanse of sand or a small secluded cove. All of these beaches are walking distance but check your departure time because you don't want to get left behind. The photo on the right shows a beach bar just opposite your ship's berth. You can see there is a volleyball pitch and there are also posts for beach-football. FISHING PORT AND MUSEUM: The boats come in about 4pm and the fish catch is auctioned off. It is a very colourful part of real life in Palamos. In the port area you will find the Museu de Pesca. It's not a stodgy museum but rather a creative interaction with fishing methods past and present. Well worth a visit. PASSEIG DEL MAR: This is the beachfront promenade. The second photo on the right gives you an idea of what it is like. You can walk right round the bay for more than two miles and stop for a beer along the way. Two other things you will notice in the photo; nearest the camera is the monument to the fisher folk by artist Joan Abras. If you are interested in art it is worth checking out the other monuments he has around the town especially the emblematic monument to the Tramontana wind; and the other thing for families with small kids is the fun of the kiddies playpark (about 3/4 of a mile from the port). THE TOWN CENTRE: Have a drink or a snack in one of the street bars. The taverna in the last photo on the right, is where the little bus drops you (if your cruise company have organised it with the town). In fact the port is just to the left of the big building behind so you can walk quite easily. This part of town is called Plaça dels Arbres (the Square of the Trees) and is about half a mile from your ship. The photo below is in Carrer Major the main shopping street. ![]() | ![]() ![]() ![]() |
